How to Go from Co Worker to Supervisor

Changing your role from that of coworker to being supervisor is challenging. There will always be someone who won't want to let you shine and be the real leader you are but you don't need to be held back by their arrogance and small-minded attitudes about your abilities. Make the transition and be determined to succeed.


1. Be confident. When your boss sees how confident and sure you are of yourself, he will be glad he chose you as a supervisor.


2. Be patient. It will take time for coworkers to get used to the changed circumstances for all of you. Once you lay off some of that heat, you're working environment will be a lot easier.


3. Don't get above yourself. Still talk to your coworkers as always. However, realize that they may feel discomfort toward you now too.


4. Ignore those who choose to belittle you. If they are obsessed about you getting the role over themselves, consider it to be a bad case of jealousy. If they are happy for you, be glad.


5. Believe in yourself. Management saw your potential, so live up to it!
